We're gutting it.
You guys! It's been weeks! So much progress has been made!
Apparently my new year's resolution is to be a huge liar in 2018. No progress has been made. In fact, we've only made the to do list quite a bit longer.
The biggest thing is that we realized that we won't be able to spot fix all of the water damage. There are SO many damaged areas. There are some that aren't too bad, and then there are some where the framing is basically dust.
Note the screws. What exactly do they think they are connected to? |
Also, who the fuck knows what is going on with the wiring in this joint. Neil was chipping away at some damaged wall and came across some loose wires, just floating around in there.
So we're opting for gutting. Now is the time, right? I mean, why do all this work, only to come across something we missed somewhere on down the road. (GET IT? "DOWN THE ROAD"? That's RV humor, folks. Also, hilarious in 2018, apparently.)
New Year, New Vibes. I have my hippy moments, and this was one of them. |
Dude looks good, right? |
Pulling down the water damaged ceiling panels whilst wearing protective eyewear like a pro. |
Where the dinette/bed and the loft bed used to be. |
Where the couch/pullout bed used to be |
Here is a typical conversation for us when we are working:
Me:
Where is this piece of paneling from?
Me: The loft bed?
Neil: No, the seat/bed.
Me: The dinette?
Neil: No, the other seat.
Me: You mean, the couch?
Neil: Yeah.
Me: OH. MY. GOD.
We put up with this though, for the sweet sweet moments when he comes back from Home Depot with flooring samples in hand. Vinyl plank flooring: looks decent, super durable, easy to install, and waterproof. Now we just need to work fast enough so that whatever color we choose here doesn't get discontinued before we are ready to install it.
It's like a pinterest board, but it's my kitchen table. |
Some good news: The fridge works! It was hard to tell because it is warmer in there than it is in the rest of the camper. But it legit works so that means we can cross "fridge" off the list. Yay us!
Total items crossed off list: 1
Total items added to list: Fuck off.
Total amount of time the twins slept and we were allowed to work: 2 hours
XO.
Yes! Also, we installed vinyl plank flooring in most of our downstairs in the new house. And we did it ourselves. So if you need tips i might have the tips. But we also just made it up as we went along. Happy New year!
